The kids and I are on holiday at the moment in my parents caravan near Harrogate. The weather hasn’t been brilliant, but we managed to visit the local maze and ice cream parlour before it rained on our first day.
Jackson wasn’t keen on the maze, the plants were a little too high for his liking, but he enjoyed the tractor, holding the rabbits and making dens!!!! Holly loved the sand pit and the bouncy castle, where I was just happy to get a cup of tea:-)
We did get a little bit of bright sunshine on the first evening, but it’s been shy since:-(

So after months of next to no knitting, I’ve finished a few wip’s within a week or so!

Langston

Langston

Langston for Holly made in some Posh yarns sylvia, the picture doesn’t do the yarn justice but I’m really happy with this and hope she wears it a lot in the autumn.
Vodka lemonda

Vodka lemonda

Vodka lemonade for me. I made this using Rowan Felted tweed DK, I really like how this turned out, I’ve worn it a few times already but I find the yarn slightly itchy. I haven’t wet blocked it yet so hopefully it’ll soften when washed?

New York cardigan, again for me! Made with Rowan dk soft which is lovely but sadly long discontinued! Knitting with black wasn’t an issue really, so I would do it again……….
Path to Gimmerton

Path to Gimmerton

I stumbled across a very small craft shop whilst at work a few months ago and found they had odd skins of Colinette point Five, so grabbed a couple to make this for Holly. I need to find a button but I like this too! It’s Road to Gimmerton.
Odessa

Odessa

Finally, another Odessa using the yarn left over from Langston. There is still enough left to make another, so I think I’ll make a smaller version for Holly. I’m sure she’s too young to protest to wearing a hat which matches Mummy’s:-)

A day at the farm!

Jackson finished nursery over a week ago now, and as I’m on holiday too we’ve been having some quality time together. As ever, most of the week has passed with my forgetting to take any pictures but I did manage a few from our day at the farm!

I eventually have good news to share! I passed my Health Visiting degree, just working through consolidation period and from 16th September, I’ll be fully qualified and in my new post! Very exciting and makes the hard work worthwhile:-)

Jackson is very happy that my “work” is finished and we’ve been making the most of the nice weather! Last weekend we went to a funday organised by the company who run the kids nursery, I stupidly forgot my camera but it was a really nice day, if a little too hot!!!!

Today we’ve been strawberry picking, which I remember doing as a child and it was great fun! Jackson loved it and we’ll probably end up back there a few times over the summer. Fortunately they have other fruits to pick, and not just strawberries, so I’m thinking jams and crumbles ready for the winter………… I’ve never frozen fruit before so need to have a look into that before our last visit!

Happy days!!! Let’s hope the nice weather hangs around for a few weeks!!!!!!

All of the academic work for my Health visiting degree has now been submitted!!! Very exciting, but equally terrifying waiting for the results!!!! Fingers crossed I have passed, I’m having difficulty contemplating resubmitting:-(

Normal blogging should resume soon.

Look what I made!!!!!!

I’ve never been a fan of the snow, much preferring to stay indoors and admire how pretty it is without experiencing it’s chill! Holly is a girl after my own heart, Jackson definately not!

Mum, come and see what Jackson is doing!

Look, out there!

He's built a Snowman!!!!

He’s built a Snowman!!!!

So after all my good intentions, the blog has waited three and a half months for an update! It’s not like I can even remember what I’ve done in that time either really but hey ho:-)
So, the course is going well, keeping me busy and really eating into any knitting time I may have, but I don’t mind too much as it’s just short term, the end is in sight!!!
Holly’s First birthday in December passed uneventfully, her daddy was poorly so our party tea was kind of ruined. She had a nice day anyway though, playing with her brother!

Megablocks Rock!!!

Megablocks Rock!!!

She’s developed the art of Posing too, which is great!!!

Mummy's Little Angel

Mummy’s Little Angel

Christmas was lovely too, although we managed to forget to take any photographs on Christmas day which is such a shame! Must do better next time! My sister organised an Elf o gram treat for the kids, so they got a special visit from Santa’s helpers and a pressie to whet their appetite for the big day! Jackson asked the elf for a pressie as soon as she walked in, never one to hold back he was keen to make sure that with his sister and three cousins there, he didn’t miss out…….. we had the camera with us, and after laughing it my sister for saying she didn’t know how to charge hers up, I took mine out of it’s case to realise the batteries were flat. My bil managed a picture of Holly and I having cuddles in front of the Christmas tree on that day.

Me and My Girl

Me and My Girl

Since Christmas, it’s been back to the grind! I managed to get one assignment finished before Christmas so I could enjoy my two weeks off, but had another to tackle in early January. Thankfully, that’s handed in too and I have managed a little bit of knitting!
I started some Monkey socks just before New year, and finished them a few days later, that must be a record for me, I have multiple single socks waiting for their partners………. I think for me, the trick is to get the second one on the needles as soon as the first one leaves them! It’s worked so far anyway as I’ve finished two pairs!

My picture only shows one, but I promise, I did make the second:-)

Vanilla socks

Other than socks, I’ve made Holly a new Jumper! Bloomsbury Kids, which I LOVE!!!!

Little Poser!

You want to see the back too Mummy??

You want to see the back too Mummy??

So as you can see, January has been pretty productive so far! Yet again, I’m reminded that I must remember how to link to patterns and yarns……………. next time!!!!!!

Feeding the Swans…….

Jackson loves taking a bag of old bread to feed the Swans at our local lake. It’s a lovely walk around afterwards and we go quite regularly on a weekend. I started back to work last week following maternity, and this was our last day before that happened.

Feeding the swans

Jackson was more than happy, until one of the swans decided to help itself and nipped his finger, I’m not sure how keen he’ll be to go and feed them again:-)
Since reading “we’re going on a bear hunt”, Jackson thinks that Bears are lurking in every dark place. He went on his own bear hunt with his daddy close behind.

I’m not sure who enjoyed the Bear hunt the most, Jackson or Daddy:-)
We made the most of a photo opportunity!

Then Holly decided it was all too tiring, and went to sleep. Note Jackson making a run for it………………..

Best Friends???

Every time I see the kids play together, it makes me so happy! Jackson often gets upset when he has to share with Holly, so “playing” together isn’t as frequent as I might like. This morning however, Jackson decided to play stacking pots with Holly, and tucked her under his blanket with him. Not that too much pot stacking is happening……………..Stuart Little is far more interesting:-)

Square eyes……………

Owlet

Made for Holly. This only took three days and I’m really pleased with the result:-)
